“I have always loved the sound of Violin (and Veena). But the thought of starting to learn to play the violin at the age of 32 was very very daunting. I was sure I would give it up with in a few weeks. But Rachel is an awesome teacher. Her teaching never once made me feel intimidated by the prospect of starting something new at a late age. Her lessons were organized to gracefully lead me up and to enjoy and love playing the violin. I am very grateful to her for giving me the ability to play an instrument I love.”

“Rachel is an excellent violin teacher. As an adult learner and the parent of a young violin student, I am delighted with Rachel's teaching skill and knowledge with all ages and levels. She meets each student where they are and moves them forward in their mastery of music. She is rigorous yet positive, encouraging students to reach goals, inspiring students to work on hard things and to have an "I can do this" attitude. In a group class she offers a differentiated learning experience. Students who may be sightly ahead of the class are given extra challenges so they are not bored. Students who are slightly behind the class are always encouraged and given a chance to shine. In individual lessons she takes into account not only skill and knowledge but also the interests of the student, adding extra songs to the basic curriculum that are interesting to the student but within their abilities, whether beginner or advanced. Because Rachel plays more than just the violin she brings a depth of music theory and practice to each lesson with her understanding of how a variety of instruments work and work with each other. I highly recommend Rachel as a violin teacher for you or your child.”

She is skilled at an impressive array of instruments including violin, viola, cello, ukulele, mandolin, piano, vocal, and guitar. Her enthusiasm and zeal for music inspires students to learn and aspire in their musical goals. She is able to challenge her students to achieve with encouragement and patience. I highly recommend Rachel as a teacher for both kids and adults from all walks of life interested in pursuing their musical pursuits.”

I have three children that have been taking lessons from Rachel for years. She is phenomenal! Not only does she treat my children with respect and kindness, but she also challenges them individually and meets them where they are musically. My children’s abilities have grown so much thanks to her. Beyond that, Rachel is a good person with a genuine passion for what she
does.

Learning an instrument as an adult has its own set of time/commitment complications. Locating a teacher who is going to be flexible, encouraging, but also push you skills can be a difficult find. Rachel has been wonderful for the past 6 or so years I’ve been learning violin! Sometimes my schedule changes, sometimes work keeps me from practicing as much as I should have. Sometimes there is a global pandemic and you have to go virtual! Rachel is very understanding and still finds ways to push and motivate you to your best. You don’t have to be perfect every lesson. You just have to have the willingness to learn, and she will help you get there!

I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my two boys. She has been teaching them for almost a decade now and the way she relates the music to them is amazing to see. She's even taught me a few guitar lessons over the years! She is very understanding of what the student needs to work on and I can't praise her enough.
